Rachel Swinson
Rachel Swinson trained under Evette DeMarco Swinson at Inland Dance Academy. Her additional instructors include David Allen, Michel Gervais, Roberto Almaguer, Charles
Maple, John Todd, Tanya Durbin, and Jennifer Blake.
She has also trained in several styles of dance, including classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, hip hop, musical theater and tap.
Rachel has been
accepted to several professional ballet schools and trained with American Ballet Theatre in New York City and the San Francisco Ballet School. Her instructors there included Lola DeAvila, Jorge Esquivel, Pascal Leroy, Wendy Van Dyke, John Meehan, Clinton Luckett, Cynthia Harvey, Leslie Browne and Ethan Brown.
She is well versed in musical theater as well having performed and trained at Steps on Broadway in New York City.
Rachel has been teaching various dance styles, choreographing and directing for over 20 years. She directs the Nutcracker annually
and yearly Summer ballet productions including Cinderella, Firebird, Swan
Lake, Alice in Wonderland, Through the looking Glass, Coppelia, Don Quixote, and Sleeping Beauty. She has also staged various musicals including Grease, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, The Greatest Showman, Annie and
Mary Poppins.
Rachel is the Artistic Director and owner of Dance Arts currently in Southern California.
Rachel recently transitioned into
professional ballroom dancing receiving top quality training from Tanya Durbin of Fred Astaire, Laguna Hills.
She has also trained with Erika Saucillo Rivera in Salsa and Bachata and is
currently teaching salsa classes. Rachel also enjoys teaching Pilates mat, Barre & yoga classes with several years of experience running adult health and wellness programs.
Rachel has modeled in several runway shows and has been featured in Pointe magazine modeling professional tutus. She was featured as a principal dancer as the Queen of Spring in
NICArt’s The Story of Nowruz under the direction of Jadell Lee and Niosha Jamali in 2024.
Rachel performs annually as a principal dancer in the Nutcracker and various summer ballet productions. Rachel has been recognized consistently for her choreography and her student’s outstanding technique with several awards including 1st place
overall achievements, awards for Top Teacher and Top Choreographer. She is proud to have
also received Top Studio and a Studio of Excellence award.
Rachel has served as the founder and director of several dance programs within various local communities through parks and recreation activities for over 15 years.
Rachel’s mission-
Rachel is creating a positive atmosphere for Dance and the Arts. She teaches a wide variety of dance and performing arts classes. With her high level of training Ms. Rachel has much to offer to each of her students. Her quality of instruction has prepared many of her students for professional dance companies, roles in Cirque de Soleil, Disneyland parades and
shows, Junior University, Civic Light Opera, Inland Dance Theater, as well as aiding students in
acquiring dance scholarships to major universities and professional dance schools in the United States. Many have gone onto professional careers in dance. Ms. Rachel’s main focus of training is classical ballet. She
encourages her students to take classes in various genres of dance to broaden each
student’s capabilities and knowledge of both dance and the arts. Rachel inspires a lasting love and appreciation for dance through artistic guidance, exciting and consistent performance opportunities performing neoclassical and contemporary works and outstanding training programs which include pre-professional and professional opportunities.
